Bits 'n' Bolts

Wauseon Cruise Night started Tuesday May 4th. The weather was perfect. We had 70 cars on display. The following two weeks it rained so we had to cancel. We had some very nice looking cars cruise into Wauseon the month of May.

May 25th turned out to be a beautiful evening for the Cruise. We had a total of 83 cars. Our President, Arnie Bunke was ready to cruise and show off his 1941 Plymouth. This car was originally his father's. Arnie found it in someone's barn and had it restored. Arnie and Shirley (his wife of 50 years) went out on their first date in this car. It has a lot of special memories.

Shorty Bischoff, from Napoleon, came cruising in with his 1956 Ford Truck (build by Dick Laiman.) He added something new since last year, pin striping, which was done by Todd Hanson of Wauseon. Looking good Shorty! :)

May 25th was the night for Drag Cars. Paul Rashley of Wauseon came in his 1964 Mercury Comet AFX Drag Car. He said it is one of 10 ever built. His friend Bob Floyd of Toledo brought his 1965 Plymouth Belvedere, with a 528 cubic inch wedge motor, A990 clone, 700 horse power. Mr. Rashley said, "It's a real animal." Dick Laiman from Lyons brought his 1978 Pinto 2.8 Liter Drag Car, which he just finished building. Dick said it has not been raced yet. He named the car "Pinto from Hell." WHY?? It came from Hell, Michigan!

A big "Thank You" to our wonderful sponsors/merchants who donated items for our goody bags. We gave out 10 goody bags each night. Also, a "Thank You" to the NW Telephone Pioneers for helping at the registering table.

Reminder: We have a Cruise-In every Tuesday. Please mark your calendar to attend our Super Cruise June 15th which is coming up soon. Hope to see you cruising into Wauseon!
